What on Earth is Ecdysterone?
To kick off, let's define the star of the show. Ecdysterone, or Beta-Ecdysterone, is a naturally occurring steroid hormone found in plants and insects1. It's categorized under ecdysteroids, a group of compounds that govern the lifecycle of insects1, including the very fashionable molting process (unfortunately, molting isn't a benefit for humans).
Ecdysterone is found in various plants like spinach, quinoa, and suma root, but don't rush to start a spinach-only diet. The levels present in plants are relatively low, so supplementation provides a concentrated dosage2.
The Benefits of Ecdysterone: Let's Get Ready
Now that we're all entomologists, let's explore why you're really here: the benefits of Ecdysterone supplementation. Just as a heads up, there's no promise of wings or antenna development.
A Mighty Muscle Builder
In the world of bodybuilding and fitness, Ecdysterone is hailed as a "natural anabolic agent." A 2019 study found that participants who supplemented with Ecdysterone while strength training had increased muscle mass compared to a control group3. So, if you're looking to bulk up, Ecdysterone might just be your secret weapon.
Enhances Athletic Performance
Apart from making you look great in a tank top, Ecdysterone also seems to enhance overall athletic performance. It's suggested to boost endurance, reduce fatigue, and improve the body's use of protein4. In other words, Ecdysterone doesn't just work on aesthetics; it also helps with the actual grunt work.
Protective Anti-Inflammatory and Antioxidant
The benefits of Ecdysterone aren't limited to fitness enthusiasts. The compound has also demonstrated anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties5. This makes it potentially useful for everyone from weekend warriors trying to soothe aching muscles, to more sedentary folks looking to combat the chronic inflammation linked to various diseases.
How To Use Ecdysterone: The Fine Print
The suggested dosage of Ecdysterone varies, but studies have found effective results with daily doses ranging from 5mg to 50mg3. However, always consult with a healthcare provider before starting any new supplement regimen.
Ecdysterone is fat-soluble, so it's best taken with a meal. Additionally, because it's a natural compound, results might not be immediate. Consistency and patience (the latter of which, let's admit, is often in short supply) are key.
Are There Any Downsides?
We've all heard that if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. So, what's the catch with Ecdysterone? While no serious side effects have been reported in studies, more long-term research is needed to fully understand its potential side effects and interactions6.
Quality. As with any supplement, quality can vary dramatically between suppliers, it is essential to make sure you are not buying spinach or some other weak source. Stick with MedSaver for the highest quality in Sourcing and manufacturing right here in the UK.
Joining the Ecdysterone Fan Club?
Simply, scroll up and purchase some of our high quality Ecdysterone after thinking about your own goals and individual health considerations. There is no doubt that Ecdysterone offers some impressive benefits, particularly for those interested in improving their physical performance and muscle growth. Personally I would not recommend this purely for it's health benefits but rather a fitness, muscle and performance enhancing supplement.
As always, it's essential to maintain realistic expectations. Ecdysterone is not a magic potion (even if its name sounds like one). Supplements are meant to complement a a balanced program of diet, exercise and lifestyle, while it might not be a panacea, Ecdysterone can provide a number of benefits in addition to providing that extra edge when working out

Do ecdysterone supplements work?
Yes. This is not just us saying this, there is proper scientific evidence, not just the anecdotes of some ther suppliers when they say “NASA use it”, “the Russian Military gave it to their soldiers” or that “Reindeer eat it at mating season”. These statements are all true but prove nothing.
On the other hand, at MedSaver we like to deal in facts…
Extract of 2019 research Ecdysteroids as non-conventional anabolic agent: performance enhancement by ecdysterone supplementation in humans. “Even more relevant with respect to sports performance, significantly more pronounced increases in one-repetition bench press performance were observed. No increase in biomarkers for liver or kidney toxicity was noticed. These data underline the effectivity of an ecdysterone supplementation with respect to sports performance”
Another earlier 2015 study titled ”Ecdysteroids: A novel class of anabolic agents?” concluded that “An anabolic activity of ecdysterone was clearly confirmed by our investigation. The anabolic potency of the ecdysterone was comparable or even higher as found for the anabolic androgenic steroids, SARMs or IGF-1.”
Short Answer – Yes they work.
How Much Ecdysterone should I take?
With our MedSaver Ecdysterone we pack in a whopping 250mg per capsule. This is enough to see the benefits in one tablet per day.
For maximum benefit up to 500mg per day can be dosed, although there are no negative side-effects of the product and it is entirely natural way to achieve increased muscle mass and performance.
What is the best brand of ecdysterone?
Of course MedSaver is the best brand!
The truth is, like a lot of proprietary drugs in the medical market there is no particular brand to choose from as the active ingredient is the same across brands. However check where the compound is being sourced!
Ecdysterone in particular is often sourced from Spinach and Quinoa or insect exoskeletons. These are not ideal and offer a lesser quality compared to the Cyanotis Arachnoidea we use at MedSaver.
What you should consider is what is mixed with the active ingredient. In this way not all brands are equal. This is the same when considering any Dietary, Nutritional or Vitamin Supplements.
We say our MedSaver brand is the best because it is 100% natural and potent ecdysterone, surrounded by a vegan HMPC capsule. It is manufactured in the UK to the highest possible standard and provided to you by us direct to your door for no additional cost.
